cheek cell microscopy
🧬Did you you know that you can collect and visualize your own cheek cells!?
🥼To harvest cheek cells, gently scrape a toothpick along the inside of your cheek for 30 seconds.
🔬To visualize the cells, lightly rub the moistened toothpick tip on a clean microscope slide, apply a drop of methylene blue stain, gently position a cover glass atop the stained cheek cell sample, and pop that slide under a light microscope... et voila!

sheep heart dissection
🐑 Preserved sheep heart dissection can be a helpful method to explore and learn more about the anatomy of the heart!
🫀Did you know that there are a few particularly crucial blood vessels that connect the heart, lungs, and the body… ensuring adequate flow of oxygenated blood throughout the body?
🫀The aortic arch branches into the brachiocephalic, left common carotid, and left subclavian arteries supplying oxygenated blood to the head, neck, and upper extremities.
🫀The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs, where it offloads carbon-dioxide and is reoxygenated.
🫀The coronary artery carries oxygenated blood to the muscle of the heart itself, helping to ensure the heart muscle’s ability to effectively function
